What to do in your garden in January
Plant bare-root fruit bushes and canes
Top Tip
Dig in Boost soil improver to the hole to give the bushes and canes a good start, or sprinkle on the surface once they have been firmed in.
Prepare your raised beds
Top Tip
Make sure the soil isn't compacted so the crop roots can spread freely and find the nutrients.
Feed spring cabbages
Earth up the cabbage stems by dragging soil up around the stems to prevent them rocking in the wind.
Top Tip
Hoeing invigorates the microbial life in the soil which makes more nutrients available to your plants. Sprinkle Boost soil improver around the base before hoeing.
Sow chilli seeds
Sow 2-3 seeds thinly per small individual pot using seed compost & cover with vermiculite. Keep temperatures at 21-27°C (70-80°F), ideally in a heated propagator or indoors in good lighting. Germination 3-10 days.

An early start will give you earlier and longer harvests.
Plant snowdrops and Hellebores
Establish new colonies of snowdrops and hellebores by buying plants in flower, so you can choose the prettiest blooms.
Top Tip
Buy large pots of snowdrops and divide them into smaller clumps when you get home. Dig in Boost soil improver to the hole to give the clumps a good start, or sprinkle on the surface once they have been planted.
